Long experience in luxury hospitality across Europe's grandest houses. Has led the property since the early days and sets, without fuss, the bar the whole team upholds.
The faces behind Luminaduneretreat
A private resort and casino along the Mediterranean coast. Opened in 1995 with six rooms and a single conviction — that true hospitality needs no announcement.
Our story in three short chapters
In the summer of 1995, two friends — a former hotelier and a chef — purchased a stretch of coastline and turned a private villa into a six-room inn. There was no investor deck, no marketing plan and no Instagram account. What they had was a notebook holding two principles: look after fewer guests better than anyone else; and never settle for what is merely "industry standard".
31 years later we have 220 keys, four restaurants, a Michelin star, one private gaming salons, a full spa, and a guest book that quietly fills with the same families returning, season after season. That notebook is still here. Those two principles have not shifted.
Ownership remains with the same two families that founded the property. We have never sold to a chain, never franchised the name, and never opened a second location — though invitations arrive often. Our reply never changes: do one place well.
What we believe
Hospitality without theatre
Flowers stay fresh because they ought to. Robes feel substantial because they ought to. The work that counts is the work guests never have to notice.
Continuity over churn
The bellman greeting you at the entrance has been here longer than most of our suites. Our head sommelier has stayed for many years. We hire with care and keep people for a lifetime.
Local over global
Menus follow what the coast offers, the wine list favours growers within four hours of the property, and spa formulas come from a chemist living forty minutes away.
Quiet by design
Adult-only grounds, screen-free public rooms, soft light at every hour and a music plan meant to dissolve into the space. Noise is simple. Calm takes effort.
The team
Six of the people who guide the property day to day. Paths differ; devotion to the standard does not. Supporting them is a 280-person team across operations, food, beverage, wellness, gaming, and concierge.
Guides food, beverage and the guest journey. A former Relais et Chateaux board member and the source of the resort's unhurried service ethos.
Trained at Le Cordon Bleu, with stages in some of Europe's finest kitchens. Brought the property its Michelin recognition.
Court of Master Sommeliers-certified, tending a cellar of several thousand bottles with a special affection for old Burgundy and small-grower Champagne.
Trained in Kyoto and Marrakech, and shaped the spa programme around the belief that rest is a skill, not a luxury.
Years on the floors of Europe's private salons. Built ours around discretion, fair play, and a personal-host approach that other houses now follow.
